CNN – Blake Oliveria was in a class when he heard the gunshots.
He said he removed his shoes in case he had to run but stayed in the classroom until police arrived to escort students out.
This was towards the end of an article on CNN about the recent school shooting at Seattle Pacific University. Another week, another tragic school shooting. At least one life lost and, as usual, for absolutely no good reason. I feel like not much detail is out on this yet, but while reading this introductory article, this part made me stop and think. Why is Blake taking off his shoes again? In case he has to run?? I wonder what purpose he thinks shoes are there to serve. Maybe he thinks they are just there to protect our feet until it’s time to use them for something. Like a headcover on a driver. The only excuse would be if he was wearing flip flops or timbs or something like that but then the article would say sandals or boots, not just shoes right? I’m sorry but if you prefer running barefoot and it’s not on grass or sand, you’re a psychopath.
